Dandelions... yes that pesky yellow weed that turns into the amazing puff ball of fluff and more seeds.
Resilient, beautiful and obnoxious (to the obsessed lawn keepers). Yet, magical and mystical to every child.
As you know, we all need those Dandelion wishes to complete our springs and summers. I don't know who is worse, Rhyan or myself when we see the first fluff of those amazing little weeds. We know it's time for Dandelion wishing hunting because the biggest are always best in securing your wishes.
But, those that follow and know me know that I am useless information person. I love to find facts that I commonly didn't know about something. Especially nature.
I did not know how many medical purposes that a Dandelion has.
It is chock full of vitamins A,B,C and D, as well as minerals, such as iron, potassium, and zinc. Dandelion leaves are fused to add flavor to salads, sandwiches, and teas. The roots are used in some coffee substitutes, and the flowers are used to make some wines.
I remember as a child my Grandmother making salads and cooking them down in side dishes as a child. I have to say I have not done this as an adult. But, after reading all that the benefits that these pesky weeds have well, I think I may be giving them a good try.
Happy Dandelion hunting !!!!
